Principals
Leonard Dam, CPA, CFP:
Started public practice in March 1971 following three years
as an Internal Revenue Agent with the U.S. Treasury Department.
He had graduated from Marquette University with B.S. degrees in
accounting and finance; attended the University of Illinois Law
School and passed the C.P.A. exam in May, 1970.
Len is responsible for client development and planning for our business clients, as well as personal planning.
Len is also responsible for client development in McHenry County.
Following the firm's policy of community involvement, Len has
served as President of the Lake County Economic Development
Corporation, Round Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Fox Lake
Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a Director and Treasurer of
the Libertyville, Mundelein, Vernon Hills Chamber of Commerce.
David Snell, CPA, CFP:
Joined Len in 1978 when they formed the original
partnership of Dam & Snell. Dave worked the previous 8 years
in the field audit division of the Internal Revenue Service both
as an agent and as group manager.
In 1968, Dave graduated from Southern Illinois University with
a degree in accounting and is a member of the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants and Illinois CPA Society.
Following graduation, Dave served two years in the
U.S. Army and is a Vietnam Veteran.
He is also a Certified Financial
Planner® Practitioner, and is the past president of both the Mundelein High School
Board and the Mundelein/Vernon Hills Rotary.
Douglas Taveirne, CPA, CFP:
Joined the firm as a partner in 1981 after spending seven years
with Pettengill & Company, a Waukegan public accounting firm. He
is a 1975 graduate of Northern Illinois University with a major
in accounting. While at Northern, he was elected to Beta Alpha Psi, a
national honorary accounting fraternity.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants and Illinois CPA Society, and is a Certified Financial Planner® Practitioner .
Among other duties, Doug is responsible for both our Estate Planning group
and our Accounting and Auditing department. A great deal of his time is devoted
to serving real estate and construction clients.
He has served as a member of the Illinois CPA Society's Local Governmental
Unit Audit Committee and Estate and Gift Taxation Committee.
He is a member of the Fox Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Lake County
Estate Planning Council, and is the past president of the Big Hollow Elementary
School District Board.
Hugh (Skip) McCann, CPA, CVA:
Joined the firm in 1989. He had worked the previous nine years for
two medium sized manufacturing companies holding positions such as Corporate
Tax Manager, Accounting Manager, and Corporate Controller.
Skip is a 1978 graduate
of Illinois State University with a major in accounting. He is a member of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society,
the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysis,
past president of the Gurnee Exchange Club, The Lake County Foundation for the
Prevention of Child Abuse and the Gurnee Boys Baseball League.
Skip was named managing partner on January 1, 2006. Skip concentrates in business planning management consulting and litigation
support services. He is a Certified Valuation Analyst and provides business
valuation services for the purposes of Purchase and Sale of business estate
and gift tax and reporting, Divorce and others.
Barbara Harpold, CPA:
Barb has been with our firm since 1984 and became a partner in January 2000.
Barb is in charge of our business tax department in Lake and McHenry Counties.
She is also responsible for our client computer system and software division services.
